Breaking The Chain

I swore on a beloved,
I wouldn't hold the strings,
That tied me down to that same fog,
That could kill or choke me.
I tried for the first fifteen days,
Didn't spend a penny,
on the miserable labels,
of 'Classic Cuts' and 'Dunhills'
Until the urge overtook the need,
To endeare for my safety,
And out came my wallet,
with the heavy greens,
That had multiplied themselves,
In the last few weeks,
For i thought I had let go of the curse,
That i endured for years and months,
But instead,I had just fallen short,
Of patience and will power,
And took the pack of the 'white lights',
That shone in the dark times,
With me in my loneliness,
My only companion and my soulmate,
These excuses dragged me,
and i lit it up and took it inside of me.
Breakin habits,isn't easy.
You find alternatives,to come back to thee.
Sorry honey,I can't be strong,
Forgive me.
